Spielbeschreibung
Timeslaughter is an arcade-style versus fighting game with a lot of cartoonish (but potentially very disturbing) violence, which has been variously labelled as the ugliest Mortal Kombat knockoff in existence, among some other unflattering descriptions. However, at the core it is a very solid, and rather challenging, full-featured fighting game for one or two players. Once you look past the over-the-top violence (which is no doubt parodying both the game developers' emphasis on it as a selling point, and the general public's vocal concerns about violent video games), it is quite similar to Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat.
The plot involves time travel, with the unusual twist that the inventor of the time portal here is the boss of the game. Accordingly, the characters come from different time periods, from prehistoric times to the post-apocalyptic future. There are ten fighters, each and every one being an unsavoury type in their own way, with unique special moves that can be looked up at the official game page, as well as two bosses. The single-player mode pits the player against all the other characters in succession (in random order), until you reach the boss (or unlock the secret boss). It is also possible to play against another user at the same computer.
Timeslaughter was originally sold as shareware, but the developers made the full game available as a free download in 2005. Please note that the action is exceedingly violent and there are suggestive themes as well, so this is certainly not a game designed for kids. Everyone else, play at your own discretion.
