King Arthur's K.O.R.T. is a turn-based strategy game that is very similar to Cinemaware's Defender of the Crown. The player takes on the role of one of King Arthur's knights of the round table who must unite Britain after Arthur's demise. There are three other pretenders, and only one can emerge victorious.
The main screen represents the map of Britain, with each knight starting with one territory, while most other neutral and poorly defended. Conquering more land increases income and the number of troops that may be raised for further conquests. The player can also build fortifications, manage taxation and even personally take part in jousting tournaments to win gold, glory or control over new domains.
King Arthur's K.O.R.T. was originally marketed as shareware. The unregistered version only allows to play as one of the knights, does not have the highest difficulty level, jousting tournaments, emergency taxes, and does not allow to invoke Merlin's spells. Otherwise it is fully playable. The Deluxe version, which has all four knights available for play and the above features, was sold, but in September 2009, MVP Software made the Deluxe version freeware.
