Spielbeschreibung

Frontier: First Encounters is the direct sequel to Frontier: Elite II. Again, you take on the role of a lone space adventurer who starts with a modest ship and a handful of credits, and from there you can build up your fortunes in any way you want: trade goods, run errands, do mercenary jobs or enlist with the space navy for a professional military career.

Compared it its predecessor, First Encounters significantly upgrades the engine and visuals while still maintaining the series' hallmark accuracy of scale of galaxies, and adds more storyline missions and events, creating an even more dynamic world for the player to participate in. Also it appears that some of the controls have been changed compared to Elite II, with the new interface sometimes not very intuitive to decipher.

First Encounters was originally sold on CD-ROM, but in the early 2000s the authors switched to a limited-time trial shareware model. You can download the full game for free and play for 30 days, but after that you need to register for a small fee.
