Stone Soup is a continuation of Linley's Dungeon Crawl, an immersive fantasy role-playing game of the roguelike variety. In spite of its humble looks (the original game only uses text mode graphics), Stone Soup offers an in-depth and exciting dungeon crawling experience in the same vein as Rogue or NetHack. There are numerous player races and classes available, diverse monsters, equipment and spells, offering a wide range of playing styles.

Stone Soup comes with an extensive manual and a detailed tutorial that makes the game much more accessible to new players and eases the process of familiarising with game controls by offering contextual hints for almost every situation in the game.

The developers ceased to release DOS versions of Stone Soup after 2009, but modern releases for Windows and other platforms offer tile-based graphics and other enhancements. The game is open source and cross-platform, and is a very popular roguelike that is quite accessible to even new players.
